A helpful way to think about the health of your gut is to imagine it like a garden —
a garden that needs regular care in order to thrive and operate as it was created to operate.
How do you care for your gut garden?
Around here we like to keep it simple…
- WEED
- SEED
- FEED
- PROTECT
Weed
“Weed out” harmful organisms like Candida yeast/fungus, waste, toxins, and illness-causing microflora. These organisms gorge themselves on the sugar in our diets, growing out of control, causing us to crave more sugar, and they perforate the gut lining allowing waste to leak out into the bloodstream. (Which is a recipe for disaster and leads to autoimmune response, allergies, inflammation, and lots of other symptoms you don’t want!)
We recommend ProBio5® and BioCleanse® to do this “weeding process” because they specifically target and break down Candida yeast and flush it away. Conventional probiotics do not contain a yeast-fighting component that can break down the tough protective shell of Candida yeast, that’s why most people can’t tell a difference when they take a drugstore probiotic or try to eat more yoghurt.
Seed
“Seed” the gut garden with the right kind of friendly bacteria once you’ve removed the bad. Our favorite probiotic for this “seeding” process is VitalBiome®, which contains 8 varied probiotic strains that colonize the gut and help create the proper balance of microbes. (This probiotic is also proven to stabilize stress and mood, promote relaxation, and decrease feelings of sadness, anxiety, and anger. Can you believe the gut bacteria have such a powerful impact on the brain and our moods?!?)
Feed
Probiotics are live organisms, which means they need food, just like your garden needs fertilizer! And while harmful organisms such as Candida yeast feed on sugar and processed junk…the friendly organisms we want more of, feed on something called PRE-biotics. These are fibers that don’t get digested in our stomachs, allowing them to travel all the way to the colon and feed our gut bugs. You can get prebiotics from eating raw vegetables (especially the parts we usually cut off and throw away like the woody ends of raw asparagus.) OR you can make life simpler and way more delicious and drink your prebiotics via Plexus Slim®. It has a dual-purpose of balancing your blood sugar with chromium AND feeding your healthy gut bugs with prebiotic fibers.
Protect
The last step in tending to your gut garden is to protect it. This means limiting exposure to toxic foods and pollutants, managing stress and anxiety, ridding your house of artificial sweeteners (no joke, they are an atomic bomb to your gut health. If you see sucralose, aspartame, or their brand names Splenda, Equal, Sweet n’ Low etc on any of your food labels, get them outta there!), getting plenty of sleep and fortifying the lining of your gut with smart supplementation. The supplement we recommend to protect the gut is XFactor Plus® aloe vitamin (aloe is shown to drastically improve the colonization of probiotics in the gut and protect the gut lining from inflammation.)
Super simple, super effective.
